First tantrum

Not really the first one but the first one in public.

Oh boy...am I in trouble.

Baby and I went to Walmart today to do our weekly food shopping. It was about 1pm when we got there. My goal was get all the food I need and then take him out of the cart and let him walk around for about 30 minutes to tire him out enough that when we got home he would go straight to bed for his nap. Everything was going well I got all the food I needed and let him walk around. I didn't realize he was going to start taking stuff, his favorite was the toilet plunger which he walk around for 20 minutes with. When I decided it was time to go he threw a fit. He didn't want to give up the plunger so he threw himself on the floor and started crying and thrashing. My gosh he is not even 1 yet and doing this. I thought I still had some time left till this behavior started. Thank goodness no one walked by when this was going on.

We managed to make it out of the store in one piece.

I love this Baby though even with his tantrums. I looked at him today right before bed and I could have sworn I was looking at an angel. He is just such a blessing in my life and has taught me so much already in just 11 months. I would not change him for the world.

Viva Las Vegas

This past weekend my cousin invited Baby and I to go with her and her family to Vegas. I of course was not going to say no so off we went.
Ahhhh!
What was I thinking? Wait...I wasn't thinking. Seven hours stuck in a car with a baby it not what I would exactly call fun but we made it there and back. We also managed to have some fun and get out of our routine which is always nice. Baby loved all the attention he got. My cousins LOVE babies and so Baby was getting attention non stop. The only bad thing is that since he is now walking and feels comfortable with it he no longer wants to hold my hand. This is no fun for me cause he wants to go where he wants to go and period.

After this trip I have decided that I will not be going to Vegas when Baby is a teenager. Honestly. My cousin has a 14 year old and who brought a friend with him and teenagers and Vegas do not mix. Wow...I was shocked. I have been to Vegas many times but not really noticed how bad it really is.
I know that sounds stupid right?
But since I am an adult it didn't hit me before that its really bad but going with teenage boys whose hormones are going crazy made me really notice everything even more.
Did you know on every corner there are free porn magazines?
And that at night they pass out cards with naked girls on them?
These boys were collecting them like they were baseball cards. My poor son the things he will see in his life time.

My husband and I were talking about this and he said how when he was a teenager to get porn you had to really try hard it was not everywhere but now days it is everywhere. It makes me sad that our children will be exposed to more bad thing earlier in life.

Baby shoes

Since Baby started working I have been trying to get him shoes that he can actually walk with. I have gone out and bought him 3 pairs of really expensive shoes and he wants nothing to do with those. Finally I decided I just needed to go out and get a pair of soft cheap shoes. Jon and I go to Old Navy the other day to exchange some clothes and as we walk by the baby section we find only one pair in his size and it was in the clearance section and the price was $6.99. I said perfect. Tried them on Baby and they fit perfectly and then when we get to the register they came out to $2.11 with taxes, don't you just love it when that happens? I am so happy with the shoes I had to put a picture up. It is so hard to find cute boy anything I swear.

More of my brother

My favorite picture of my brother. This was the day he had his last interview with his mission president.

Isn't this the sweetest picture? We have never been able to get Baby out of the car while asleep and manage to keep him asleep but uncle Will totally did it. I was so socked. I love this picture!

Baby update

Everything was going great he was falling asleep fast and easy. I was even starting to not have to be laying next to him and then I got sick and was running low on patience. Have you noticed how when you are sick it seems like babies are more whinny? Well at least baby was and he did not want to fall asleep without the booby so I gave in a did it for 3 nights in a row. Now we are back to the beginning and so far he has been doing good but I have to be laying next to him. The only other difference is that now he is ALL over the bed. He used to fall asleep in one place and wake up in that same spot, not anymore. He also used to like being covered by a blanket and that is no more which is a problem cause I have to sleep covered. Anyways hopefully soon he will be falling asleep on his own.

Will

This is my brother the one who just finished his mission.

He served his mission in the Utah Ogden Mission. When he first got the call he was kinda disappointed but there is always a reason someone gets called to a certain area. He loved his mission. Met tons of amazing people as well as tons of crazy people.

Ok he told me that while out here he learned that white people are crazier than latinos like he used to think. Funny story...he said he was more scared of white people out here. One night while serving in Ogden he got a gun pulled on him by a latino and he just laughed at him and walked away like nothing but then another time while serving in Clearfield a white guy pulled a knife out on him and his companion and he said he has never been so scared in his life. Later he told me that the reason he was so scared of white people out here is because back home he didn't experience too much racism but while being out here he saw so much racism he was really socked since most people are LDS. Many times he would walk into someone's house with his white companion and the people would not look at him let alone talk to him.

I guess there is also a lot of Satan worshipping in Utah. I was really socked with this...we drove by one LDS church that had to be torn down and re-built because the bishop, relief society president and elders quorum president were doing things they should not have been doing. This was only 3 years ago. Wow, in a case like that you really need to have a strong testimony. Even serving a mission and seeing things like this would be tough. There are ton more stories but I probably shouldn't share too many things like that. It makes me sad to know that there are people who do those kind of things specially people who are supposed to be good examples.

Now about the few days he was here...
these were the worst 3 days. I got sick, how convenient right? I picked him up Wednesday and wasn't feeling too bad but by Thursday I had a fever and Friday was even worst. I was so sad cause we were not able to do anything fun but I made him promise me that he would come visit this summer.

Elder Aggie

OMG! I am so excited about this....

my brother Will, who has been serving a mission for the past 2 years is done and he is sitting right next to me right now. I have missed him so much. It is so nice to have him here and to have him be able to hang out and talk and I can now be silly like I used to be around him.

He is such a great example to me. I cannot wait to pick his brain about things he has learned.

Oh and he already has some crazy stories which I am sure I will be sharing.

I'll be back this weekend to put up pictures and give an update once he goes back home, for now I wanna spend as much time as possible with him. I only get him for 3 days.

Update on sleeping

Last night was going pretty well until the hubby decided to go in the room and wake up baby, AHHH! Really? Then he proceeds to tell me that baby was waking up before he came in the room. Wow he must have some magical powers to see thru doors, hahaha. I eventually got baby back down but had to use the booby.

Then at 2am he woke up full of energy, WHAT? I was not expecting that. I tried to ignore him at first that didn't work then I tried the booby way and that didn't work so I was out of ideas. So after about an hour or longer we both fell asleep but he kept on getting up throughout the night. Lets hope tonight is not a repeat of that. I could not take another night like that.

Lets talk about tonight's bed routine...we did the same thing got him in the bath by 6:45 then feed him, did our prayer and read our bed time story, then turned the lights off and laid him down with me laying down right next to him. He cried for about 5 minutes then for 15 minutes he whined but by 7:20 he was out. Yay! This is really working, at least for the bed time part we need to work on the going back to sleep during the night.

One step at a time though.

Vacation

We got to go to California 2 weeks ago.

We had not gone for Christmas and so it had been 8 months since Jon's grandma had seen baby and she was dying to see him. She has a thing for boys and he is the first great-grandson for her. She just loved him and thought he was the greatest thing. She is just such a sweet lady I love her so much. Can you believe she is 90 years old?

We stayed with my husband's aunt who lives off a golf course and it is just beautiful. She is so amazing its like staying with Martha Stewart no lie, flowers in our room, gifts on our bed, breakfast in the morning and amazing dinners. It doesn't get better than that and she absolutely loved baby and he was crazy about her too.

It was a much needed get away. The best thing was we got there and back with less than $100 on gas since we took out mini. Woo hoo! Hopefully we can go back soon. I love it down there.

Baby went down!

For the first time EVER baby went to sleep without being fed to sleep.

I read a website where they give you advice on what to do and I did exactly what it said. I started the bed time routine at 6:45 with a bath, then I fed him, then we did our prayer and read our bed time story and then I laid him down and I laid down right next to him. He only cried for 10 minutes and within 40 minutes he was out.

A week ago I started him with a "lovey" and it seems to be helping out too.

I am super excited about this, I am hoping that within 15 days I can just do our bed time routine and then lay him down in bed and leave the room. We will see how it goes.

Way too long

Its been way too long since I last updated...sorry guys...

Baby is on the move now days, can you believe that? I sure can't. He is only 11 months and has been walking for a month. Once they start walking it is ALL over but I totally love it. I just cannot wait till the weather gets warmer so we can actually go outside. He is also starting to love being around other little kids so I am starting to try and get play dates for him. This monday we have one and I am super excited about it. We had his cousin over the other day and he got so excited he just didn't couldn't stand it.

On other news I just got a sewing machine and I am super excited about it. I cannot wait to start sewing.

Ok now any mommies out there I need your help. Since baby was born we have been doing the whole co-sleeping thing and so he hasn't really had to fall asleep on his own. So far I have been his "lovey" I am trying to get him now to fall asleep on his own and I need HELP. If any of you have ideas or things you have tried let me know. Thank you guys!
